Honey Buckwheat Cake

A simple recipe for a moist and sweet honey cake. Honey Buckwheat Cake is made of buckwheat sponge with honey and walnuts, yogurt and sour cream frosting, and walnut buttercream. The cake will be finished in less than two hours and serves 14-16 pieces. I made this cake for my dad’s birthday. He loves anything with buckwheat so he was really pleasantly surprised! The cake is suitable for those who opt for gluten free. I suggest you leave out the cocoa powder and gelatine powder. Instead of eggs, applesauce can be used.   Ingredients Buckwheat Sponge 6 eggs 140 g […]

Berry Layer Cake

This is a recipe for the tallest cake I’ve ever baked. I made it for my grandparents at their 50th wedding anniversary. To please as many guests as possible I picked a combination of vanilla and cocoa sponge, filled with two frostings with berries. So, this recipe will do for a cake with about 20 slices (diameter is 26 cm). But you can make a smaller cake, so you take only the half of the quantity of listed ingredients.   Ingredients Vanilla sponge 5 eggs 150 g sugar 200 g flour 15 g baking powder 10 g vanilla sugar 0,5 […]

The Checkerboard Cake

A cake for all chess lovers! Not only there’s a checkerboard on top, but it’s also a surprise when you cut into the cake. I won’t lie, the procedure is long and demanding, it took me 5 hours. But I’m sure you can do it if you strictly follow the instructions. Nevertheless, the cake is made of vanilla sponge, cocoa sponge, and chocolate buttercream. I used a round baking tray with 22 cm diameter. You can also use the bigger or smaller baking tray, but then you have to adjust the quantity of ingredients or the cake will be shorter […]
