Since it’s baking season, it happens sometimes we have some sponge cake left. All of you experienced bakers already know it’s the best if you use it in rum balls. Here’s the recipe how to make them. If you roll them in coconut, you get a dessert suitable for Christmas because it resembles small snow balls. Rum snow balls are really easy to make so anyone can do it, even a complete beginner.
From these ingredients, you will get approximately 25 snow balls, which will be made in 20 minutes.
- 250 g sponge cake crumbs, cookie crumbs can be used as well
- 5 tablespoons rum
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 20 g melted butter
- 50 ml sweet cream
- 30 g shredded coconut
Melt the butter. Crumble the sponge cake and soak it with rum and milk.
Add melted butter and sweet cream. Stir thoroughly or combine together with hands to get a thick mixture.
With hands, shape small balls in size of a bigger walnut and roll them into shredded coconut.
Keep the rum balls in the fridge. They are especially tasty if you keep them there overnight.
