Plum Crumble Pie

Since there’s a season of plums, and my parents currently have plenty, I have prepared a recipe for delicious plum pie with crumbles. This plum pie is crispy and buttery, and the plums make it sweet and juicy. A perfect fall bake! 

Plum Pie is easy to make. For kneading the dough and the crumbles you will need about 20 minutes, the preparation of plums will take you 45 minutes, and together with baking time, total preparation time is about one hour. The pie can be eaten hot, the best if served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients (for 12 pieces or 28 cm pie baking tray)
The crust
  • 300 g flour
  • 100 g sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • Teaspoon of baking powder
  • Teaspoon of vanilla sugar

     

Plum filling
  • 500 g plums
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
The crumble
  • 120 g flour
  • 80 g sugar
  • 75 g butter
  • Teaspoon of baking powder
  • Teaspoon of vanilla sugar 
Procedure

Wash the plums, cut them in halves and remove the stones. Then cut them in quarters and cover them with sugar. Leave them for about half an hour to release the juice.

Prepare the baking tray for pie (butter it, then slightly cover with flour, so the dough doesn’t stick on it).

Take all the ingredients for the crust and knead the dough from it. Put in the baking tray and cover the edges well, too.

Pour away the juice the plums have released and arrange them evenly on the crust.

For the crumble, take all the ingredients, and knead them for a little bit so you get the crumbles.

Sprinkle them on the plums and cover the whole pie.

Heat the oven to 180° C and bake the pie for about 30 minutes. The pie is baked when crumbles get a nice golden brown color.
